All is not well at Manchester United, with results continuing to disappoint despite the sacking of Erik ten Hag and the appointment of Ruben Amorim, while the situation off the pitch continues to faze the club’s fans Feeling disappointed.
A looming cloud surrounds Old Trafford as they sit 13th in the Premier League with just three wins in their last 10 games, with Amorim claiming they are “perhaps the worst team in United’s history” There was a gloomy atmosphere.
United will hope the situation will improve significantly by the summer, but even a trip abroad for pre-season could be a welcome escape. Maybe go to America. But definitely not Tampa.
Trip to Tampa not an option for United
That’s because the Florida city is reportedly strictly off-limits to the Red Devils, whose owners have banned any form of pre-season friendlies in the area.
Of course, the Glazer family also owns the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, an American football team. Normally, this would mean a relationship between the two teams, but that’s not the case here.
According to ESPN reporter Mark Ogden, the Glazer family doesn’t want United players to see the state-of-the-art facilities available to Tampa Bay players.
“A guy who worked at Manchester United told me a story, and we haven’t really discussed the elephant in the room: that’s the Glazer family. It’s the Glazer family and their ownership of the club,” Ogden said Football Reporter Podcast.
“I asked the guy, I said, when United go to America, why do they never go to Tampa? Arsenal will be linked up with the Los Angeles Rams or with (owner Stan) Kroenke’s team. Liverpool and Boston. FSG did this together, they spent a lot of time there.
“United have never been anywhere near Tampa, where the Glazer family owns the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the US. I’m told it’s simply because the owners don’t want United to see the facilities in Tampa Bay How nice. They don’t want them to see the training field because the training field in Tampa is supposed to be state-of-the-art.
“This stadium is a top-class stadium. The Glazer family have invested a lot of money in the facilities in Tampa and if the players went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers training ground and realized what they have and what United don’t have, that could happen to the club. Mutiny.”
With renovations at Carrington and development commitments at Old Trafford, United are aiming to bring their facilities up to the standards expected of one of the world’s richest clubs.
