Wolves are scheduled for appointment Viktor Pereira as the new head coach after signing an 18-month contract with the Portuguese veteran.
Pereira, currently in charge Al Shabaabwill replace Gary O’Neilwho was released after Saturday’s damage 2-1 in the Premier League defeat against Ipswichwhich left Wolves five points clear of safety.
The 56-year-old agreed a deal until the end of the 2025/26 season after Wolves agreed to pay the Saudi Pro League team compensation.
An official appointment is expected to be announced within the next 24 hours, with his first match being a crucial clash with Leicester on Sunday.
Pereira won league titles in Portugal, Greece and China during his extensive managerial career and was close to replacing Rafael Benitez as Everton manager in 2022.
On that occasion he lost out to Frank Lampard after fans protested against his reported appointment and the message “Pereira out, Lampard in” was painted on a wall at Goodison Park.

However, it now appears he is ready for a Premier League job and will become the third Portuguese manager to take the reins of Wolves, after Nuno Espirito Santo and Bruno Lage, as agent Jorge Mendes continues to have an influence at Molineux.
O’Neil was sacked after Saturday’s defeat – Wolves’ fourth in a row – which left them second in England’s top flight with nine points from 16 games.
There were unpleasant scenes at full-time as Rayan Ait-Nouri received a second yellow card and Matheus Cunha became involved in a confrontation with Ipswich staff which resulted in receiving the Football Association fee on Tuesday.
